Starlight Defender is the first enemy type with explosive projectiles introduced in Selenic Stronghold level of Astral Equinox episode.
Appearance[ | ]
Defender wears full bulky red and white armor and carries a spiky black bomb in his right hand.
Behavior[ | ]
Unlike many other enemies, Starlight Defender doesn't try to close distance with the Champion but instead looks for a good position afar (usually on high platforms) to throw his explosives.
- Melee. When up close, Sunshine Protector punches the player with bob-omb, causing a blast and pushing them away.
- Ranged. Holedark Destructor throws his bomb at the player. Simple, but effective.
Tactics[ | ]
Defenders are often found on upper floors of the level, where it's hard to reach them. It is smart to stay away from their throwing range while dealing with other foes as you won't find time (and sometimes space) to watch out for bombs. Their durability is higher than of a Lunar Deacon, so it's best to have heavy weapons in your pocket when encountering a hostile mob in order to deal with Defenders quick.

- He is immune to his own explosions, but other enemies aren't.
- Starlight Defender is the only moon worshipper who doesn't have any counterparts in Solar Solstice.
